CPR- Treatment and Courses

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation or more popularly known as CPR can be described as a life-saving procedure which is performed when the heart stops working suddenly. It is an emergency treatment provided to a patient which can double or triple his chances of survival through a cardiac arrest.

CPR helps in keeping the blood flow active and even reduces the chances of death in case of cardiac arrest. There are several organizations like American Heart Association CPR Certification Berkeley which provide successful Resuscitation training to the people.

There are two types of CPR treatment which are provided to the patients of cardiac arrest:

• Trained professionals: The healthcare providers and the trained professionals provide conventional CPR. They make use of chest compressions and mouth to mouth breathing techniques at a ratio of 30:2 (compressions to breaths). The chest compressions are performed at a rate of 100 to 120/min with an average depth of 2 inches.

• By General Public: The general public who witness a person collapsing can provide a normal Hands-only CPR. In this process, no mouth to mouth breaths are provided. It is suggested for use in the case where a person collapses and there is no medical treatment available nearby.

There are several lifesaving training and courses provided by the American Heart Association at various centers as well as over an online platform. The courses provided by AHA include cognitive learning as well as practical training. In order to get a chance of learning CPR, a student needs to first undergo a choice learning and after that should complete an in-person skill practice along with a testing session with the instructor.
